Introducing the McLovinMountains guest Skills Coach and Mountain expert Andy Mallinson.

 

Biography

A proud Yorkshireman living in Scotland for the last 30+ years, Andy Mallinson has over forty years experience as an active participant, instructor and guide in the mountains.

Along with extensive mountaineering in the UK, Andy has done multiple seasons in the European Alps, and expeditions to North Africa, India & Nepal.  Andy has also worked at a number of outdoor centres and was most recently ice climbing instructor at Snow Factor.  He now runs two businesses – Mountain Summits providing instruction and guiding, and River Cottage providing 4* accommodation to outdoor enthusiasts in the Cairngorms.

Andy is a member of the Mountaineering Council of Scotland, the JMCS, and a course provider for the NNAS.  He holds a B.Ed. in Outdoor Education, HSE approved Mountain First Aid qualification and is a fully qualified member of Mountain Training.

Little known facts – he was once Class 1 Scottish Rally Champion….worked as an accountant in the international oil & gas sector……and first job after getting thrown out of school was as a baker !
